I was surprised when I read on a newspaper that Ricky Rubio, Spanish player at Minnesota Timberwolves, said that he wanted to be black for his obsession with the legendary American player Michael Jordan.
In an interview on the program “Play Basket” at Cadena Ser Radio (Spain), he confessed: "I was obsessed with Jordan. I saw only NBA players and saw only black people. I wanted to play here and I told my mother I wanted to be black."
It is curious because this past week-end, while watching Timberwolves against Golden State, my daughter asked me if all the people on the game were black people, and I told her: “No, look attentively, there are some players who are white.” I want to mean with this comment that really it seems that all the NBA players are black, but I think that this is because they simply stand out from the rest.
Really, I like this guy, he does awesome things in the court and we have a good player for our Spanish basketball team years ahead if injuries respect him.
