Scientists at NASA are closely following a recently fracture of ice from Antarctica, which is going adrift. Researchers are witnessing a large iceberg of almost the equivalence surface of New York.
The huge ice fracture was discovered by observation flights conducted last October by the U.S. space agency, in order to analyze changes in the layers of ice. In one flight, the scientists found a long crack that clearly indicates the imminent release of a large iceberg. It is a natural phenomenon that poses no environmental hazard worldwide, the scientists said.
"We know very little about the formation of icebergs of this magnitude, and we are exited to see how it develops its activity,” told me a scientist at Oklahoma University.
For now, scientists are fascinated about the phenomenon, but when the fatal moment arrives I hope that they will have prepared missiles with hot water for defrosting the motherfucker ice and avoid a worse catastrophe.
